Boeing resuming B787 flight testing

Analysis

Boeing has resumed flight tests on its B787 programme after the fleet was grounded last month following an inflight power-failure.

An interim version of updated power-distribution-system software has been installed on the first aircraft resuming flight tests.

B787 programme head, Scott Fancher, stated: "As we return to flight test and determine the pace of that activity, we remain focused on developing a new program schedule", adding: "We expect to complete our assessment of the program schedule in January."

Boeing's shares gained 0.7% yesterday, while Airbus' parent EADS fell 0.4%.
