Beijing Airport’s passenger traffic continues to rise, and freight makes a comeback

Premium Analysis

Beijing Capital International Airport's (BCIA) traffic performed well again in Feb-2009, with 4.8 million passengers handled during the month, up 28.2% year-on-year. This is a strong performance for the airport considering Chinese New Year fell in Jan-2009, as opposed to Feb-2008 previously and highlights the airport's continual increase in passenger traffic for 2009, handling 10 million passengers for Jan-2009 and Feb-2009 combined, up 23.5%. However, demand in the first two years of 2008 was affected by pre-Olympics security measures and snow storms in Southern China.
