Air New Zealand to revive direct Canada service

Analysis

Wellington (XFN-ASIA) - Air New Zealand Ltd announced it is

to resurrect a direct service to Canada as part of a route overhaul with flights

from Auckland to Vancouver starting in November.

Airline chief executive Rob Fyfe said the new service, replacing one which was stopped in the 1990s, was expected to be profitable in its first season.

"There is already very strong demand and we have found from other markets as soon as you set up a direct service people gravitate towards it very quickly," he said.

The services will initially operate three times a week between November and March to coincide with the peak travel season.
