Aeroports de Paris commences construction of new cargo terminal at Paris-Orly Airport

Pierre Graff, Chief Executive Officer of Aéroports de Paris group, said: "With this new cargo terminal, Aéroports de Paris supports the development of cargo operators at its airports notably at Paris-Orly. This terminal was designed with an environmental approach to most closely meet the needs of our clients."

The opening of this common-use cargo terminal, located at the North-East of the cargo area at Paris-Orly airport, is planned for March 2008.

Modern and functional, the new terminal will cover an area of 14,700 sqm with a warehouse area of 12,000 square meters and an office area of 2,700 sqm. The inside of the building will offer maximum modularity. The new cargo facility will enable to increase storage capacity and speed up the handling of goods. It will also provide maneuvering and storage areas and will offer adapted equipment such as quay levelling system in front of each door, palettization areas, etc.

The terminal will have a handling capacity of 80,000 to 100,000 tons of cargo. It is already totally rented out to the following main clients: Air France Cargo, Handlair and SIFA.

This new cargo terminal is part of the policy aiming at the upgrading and the enhancement of the attractiveness of Paris-Orly airport.

In terms of cargo, Paris-Orly handles essentially cargo carried on board of commercial aircraft. Paris-Orly offers the following advantages: its proximity to Rungis Market and an easy access to the markets of southern Europe, French Overseas Departments and North Africa.
