Adelaide Airport announces parking fee structure for 2007/8

In the short-term car park, the tariff for a stay of up to one hour will remain at AUD4.00, with stays of one to two hours remaining at AUD7.00. In the long-term car park, the tariff for a stay of six days will be reduced from AUD70 down to AUD65, while a stay of ten days will be reduced from AUD110 down to AUD85. Fees for mid-term parking will increase by AUD5 per stay. For example, a two-day stay in the long-term car park will increase from AUD30 to AUD35.

Managing Director, Phil Baker, said other changes to car parking fees, which come into effect on 30-Jun-07, are designed to encourage people to use the most appropriate car park for their length of stay. "For almost 90% of our visitors, including people picking up or dropping off passengers, there will be no change or even a reduction in the cost of parking," Mr Baker said. "We would encourage people parking at Adelaide Airport to compare the cost of our short term and long term car parks, and use the one that offers the best value for the length of stay. If you use the most suitable car park, there will be little or no change in the cost of parking".

"As a general rule of thumb, if you're intending your length of stay to be less than eight hours, the short term car park may be the better option. For stays of longer than eight hours, the long-term car park is more likely to be the better option," stated Mr Baker. "Our long term parking rates represent particularly good value when compared with other modes of transport, particularly for people who live further away from the airport." Mr Baker said some fees had increased mainly in an effort to encourage short-term visitors to use the short-term car park and long-term visitors to use the long-term car park.
