Lufthansa Group orders ten A320ceos for Eurowings

Lufthansa Group announced (17-Sep-2014) an order for ten A320ceo aircraft for Eurowings, which will be delivered in 2016 and 2017. The aircraft will replace older Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft in the carrier's fleet. Lufthansa Group stated the aircraft will be "paid for from the Group's cash reserves or through external funding arrangements." Lufthansa Group executive VP fleet management Nico Buchholz said: "These aircraft contribute significantly to reducing noise and emissions wherever they fly. This new order is the next logical step in our ongoing fleet modernisation strategy, in particular with regards to driving down fuel burn, operating costs, noise and emissions." Airbus COO customers John Leahy added: "The A320ceo is the most reliable and efficient single-aisle aircraft today. It will empower Eurowings to perform its newly assigned mission - granting the lowest operational costs for the airline and the highest comfort and widest cabins for its passengers."
