Berlin Schönefeld and Berlin Tegel airports pax up 11%, cargo stable in Oct-2015

Berlin Tegel and Berlin Schönefeld airports reported (08-Dec-2015) a combined 10.9% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 2.4 million in Nov-2015, with Berlin Tegel recording a 1.3% decline to 1.6 million and Berlin Schönefeld recording a 46.1% increase to 825,812. Aircraft movements at both airports increased 8.6% to 22,232, including a -0.3% decline to 14,743 at Berlin Tegel and a 31.7% increase to 7489 at Berlin Schönefeld. Air freight at the airports rose 0.4% to 3922 tonnes. Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH CEO Karsten Mühlenfeld said: "The increasing passenger volume at Schönefeld is due in particular to the commitment of Ryanair, which opened its new base here at the end of October. We expect this growth to continue and will therefore set about implementing the necessary measures for expansion." [more - original PR]
