AirAsia reports 57m pax, top destinations for 2016

AirAsia, via its official Facebook and Twitter accounts, reported (18-Dec-2016) the following details in its 'AirAsia 2016 Travel Report':

• Passenger numbers: 57,263,743;
• Top 10 city destinations: Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore, Penang, Manila, Hong Kong, Taipei, Sydney, Melbourne and Kota Kinabalu;
• 10 most visited destinations: Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Bangkok, Singapore, Penang, Langkawi, Hat Yai, Bali, Manila and Kota Kinabalu;
• 10 most searched destinations: Chiang Mai, Cebu, Taipei, Tokyo, Langkawi, Puerto Princesa, Kalibo, Kota Kinabalu, Bangkok and Chiang Rai;
• Top travellers by nationality: Singaporean, Malaysian, Thai, Filipino, Indonesian, Chinese, Korean, Indian and Australian;
• The average Malaysian makes 1.3 trips p/a, 62% of Malaysians make domestic trips (key destinations: Sabah and Sarawak), 26% make trips within ASEAN (Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand) and 23% make trips to other international destinations (Japan, China, South Korea and Australia).
