About
The AirAsia X Group is the entity controlling the Capital A's long haul, low cost operations. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, its members include;
- AirAsia X (core operator; commenced Nov-2007)
- Thai AirAsia X (commenced Oct-2013)
- Indonesia AirAsia X (commenced Jan-2015, ceased Oct-2020)
AirAsia X and Thai AirAsia X employ identical low cost business models and while Indonesia AirAsia X operates on a non-scheduled basis (it suspended scheduled service operations from Jan-2019). All carriers operate a single-type fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft.
The airlines work with the short-haul carriers of the Capital A Group including AirAsia, AirAsia India, Philippines AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia and Thai AirAsia to provide feeder traffic into the group's regional networks.
Capital A Berhad shareholders voted in favour of the proposed disposal of the company's aviation business to AirAsia X in Oct-2024.
