Winnipeg Richardson International Airport reports USD10.2m EBITDA in 1Q2014

Canada's Winnipeg Richardson International Airport reported (23-Apr-2014) a 12.8% year-on-year increase in revenue to CAD25.5 million (USD23.1 million) in 1Q2014 while EBITDA reached CAD11.2 million (USD10.2 million). Passenger numbers at the airport increased 1.1% during the quarter. Commenting on the results, Winnipeg Airports Authority president and CEO Barry Rempel said: As the quarter ended, we were pleased to note incremental increases in our region's passenger traffic volume. First quarter passenger traffic at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport increased 1.1% as compared to the first quarter of 2013. Revenue was $25.5 million for the first quarter, compared to $22.6 million for the same period in 2013. Earnings before interest, depreciation and taxes were $11.2 million, equal to the same period in 2013.

WestJet Encore entered the Winnipeg market this quarter, launching daily non-stop service between Winnipeg and Regina, and Winnipeg and Saskatoon with their new fleet of Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft. Sunwing also added Freeport, Bahamas to their list of direct destinations from Winnipeg.

This quarter also heralded the grand opening of our newest airport campus tenant, The Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel, offering our customers a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel, with fantastic amenities and services for its guests.

Our Goldwing Ambassadors also reached a new impressive benchmark by officially logging over 200,000 volunteer hours since the program was launched in 1997.
