Visitor arrivals to the US expected to grow 5% in 2010
US Department of Commerce forecasts a 5% year-on-year increase in international visitor arrivals to the US in 2010, followed by a 5% to 7% increase p/a to 2014 (Trend, 18-Jun-2010). According to the Office of Travel & Tourism Industries, arrivals fell 5% in 2009, the first decline since 2003. Forecast arrivals for 2010 are as follows:
- Total international arrivals: +5% year-on-year;
- South America: +11%;
- Asia: +9%;
- China: +22%;
- South Korea: +18%;
- Australia: +12%;
- India: +12%;
- Japan: +5%.
