Tiger Airways seeks regulatory change to enable trans-Tasman service launch

Tiger Airways MD Tony Davis reiterated the airline's desire for regulatory changes to enable Tiger Airways Australia to launch international operations from Australia, particularly to New Zealand (The Australian, 04-Nov-2010). He added that Tiger would help mitigate any competition issues in relation to the proposed alliance between Virgin Blue and Air New Zealand on trans-Tasman routes, adding that it was "absolutely nonsensical" that Tiger is currently excluded.

Tiger Airways: "I think it's pro-consumer, it's clearly going to have a positive impact on reducing air fares and it helps mitigate some of the obvious anti-consumer impacts of allowing the No 2 and No 3 airlines in the market to combine their activities," Tony Davis, MD.
