Thai Airways plans to establish ultra low cost carrier

Thai Airways reportedly plans to establish an 'ultra low cost carrier' in addition to the Thai Smile LCC unit which is scheduled to commence operations from Jul-2012, according to an AFP report. Thai Airways president Piyasvasti Amranand gave no timetable for the launch, but said, "we still need to capture the very low end of the market".

Meanwhile Tiger Airways CEO Chin Yau Seng stated Tiger is still interested in establishing a JV LCC in Thailand with Thai Airways, according to a Straits Times report.
