Mitsubishi and Chiyoda to construct new aiprort in Ulan Bator

Japan's MLIT stated (13-May-2013) Mitsubishi Corp and Chiyoda Corp have agreed to construct a new airport in Mongolia's Ulan Bator. Mitsubishi Corp said the new airport will be constructed around 50km southwest of Ulan Bator for around JPY50 billion (USD500 million). Development of the new airport will be supported by an international loan through Japan's overseas development assistance. The project will include creating a 3600m runway and a terminal with capacity for two million passengers p/a, and the supply of air traffic control systems. Expansion of Mongolia's only airport, Chinggis Khaan International Airport, is hindered by nearby mountains and harsh weather conditions. [more - original PR - Japanese]
