Melbourne Tullamarine Airport pax up 6% in Aug-2013, int'l pax continues to be driven by Asia market

Australia's Melbourne Tullamarine Airport reported (20-Sep-2013) a 6.4% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 2.6 million in Aug-2013, including a 4.2% increase in domestic passengers to 2.0 million and a 13.8% increase in international passengers to 635,254. CEO Chris Woodruff attributed the 14% growth in international passengers to Asian growth markets, stating: "Our continued international growth from Asia also highlights the importance of ensuring adequate capacity in bilateral air service agreements between Australia and key international markets to capitalise on the business, tourism, education and export opportunities this growth presents."
