Japanese carriers yield down 5% in Dec-2012 quarter; LCC yield one third of full-service carriers

Japan's MLIT reported (01-Mar-2013) the following financial/operational highlights for three months ended 31-Dec-2012:

  • Passenger revenue: JPY323,653 million (USD3989 million), +2.5% year-on-year;
  • Passenger revenue per passenger: JPY15,100 (USD186.1), -3.8%;
  • Passenger yield: JPY16.4 (USD 20.2 cents), -4.7%;
    • Japan Airlines: JPY17.4 (USD 21.4 cents), stable;
    • ANA: JPY17.8 (USD 21.9 cents), -2.7%;
    • Japan TransOcean Air: JPY13.0 (USD 16.0 cents), -1.5%;
    • Skymark: JPY11.3 (USD 13.9 cents), -5.0%;
    • Air Do: JPY15.7 (USD 19.3 cents), -4.3%;
    • Solaseed: JPY13.8 (USD17.0 cents), -5.5%;
    • StarFlyer: JPY16.2 (USD 20.0 cents), -5.8%;
    • Peach: JPY6.8 (USD 8.4 cents);
    • Jetstar Japan: JPY5.6 (USD 6.9 cents);
    • AirAsia Japan: JPY6.4 (USD 7.9 cents);
  • Passenger numbers: 21.5 million, +6.9%;
