GMR considers bids for Madrid Barajas and Barcelona El Prat

India's GMR Group stated it is considering placing bids for operating Madrid Barajas and Barcelona El Prat Airports (Business Standard, 04-Aug-2011). The company would likely place a bid in conjunction with a local partner. GMR is also looking at airports in Puerto Rico (Luis Munoz Marin International Airport), Indonesia and Africa. The group is in discussions with the authorities in Kenya and Tanzania, which are also looking at developing new airports. GMR has also been shortlisted for financial bids for Zagreb Airport.
