ENAC: Italian airports handle 29.8m pax in 1Q2015, an increase of 7%
ENAC reported (20-May-2015) 29.8 million passengers travelled through Italian airports in 1Q2015, an increase of 6.8% year-on-year. Cargo traffic increased 5.0% to 220,491 tonnes, with Milan Malpensa Airport the busiest in terms of cargo traffic. Aircraft movements increased 0.2% to 272,103. ENAC director general Alessio Quaranta stated the growth is testament of the "recovery that gives hope in overcoming the crisis in recent years." The busiest Italian airports in terms of passengers are as follows:
- Rome Fiumicino: 7.8 million, +8.4%;
- Milan Malpensa: 3.8 million, -1.4%;
- Bergamo: 2.1 million, 18.2%;
- Milan Linate: 2.0 million, 2.1%;
- Venice: 1.5 million, 1.8%;
- Bologna: 1.4 million, 5.3%;
- Catania: 1.3 million 3.0%;
- Rome Ciampino: 1.3 million, 13.3%;
- Naples: 1.0 million, 8.2%;
