Discount airlines to eat into shares of established carriers: ANA

All Nippon Airways President Shinichiro Ito stated it is "only a matter of time before discount airlines eat into the shares of established carriers" in Asia (The Nikkei, 20-Jul-2011). The comments were made as foreign LCCs, such as Jetstar, Spring Airlines and Jin Air are increasingly focussing on building their networks to/from Japan. LCCs still only operate around 3% of the 3000 weekly international services to/from Japan.
