Cathay Pacific pax numbers up 11% with 83% load factor in May-2014, cargo up 14%

Cathay Pacific reports (12-Jun-2014) the following traffic highlights in May-2014:

• Passenger numbers: 2.6 million, +10.9% year-on-year;
• Passenger traffic (RPKs): +11.2%;
• • China: +9.9%;
  • Northeast Asia: +19.2%;
  • Southeast Asia: +1.0%;
  • India, Middle East, Pakistan & Sri Lanka: +10.9%;
  • South West Pacific & South Africa: +19.3%;
  • North America: +16.1%;
  • Europe: +1.5%;
• Passenger load factor: 83%, +4.0 ppts;
• Capacity (ASKs): +5.8%;
• Cargo volume: 138,448 tons, +13.9%;
• Cargo load factor: 63%, +1.9 ppts;

Cathay Pacific: "We saw good demand across our passenger network in May, and in particular to destinations in Northeast Asia, Australia/New Zealand and North America. Loads were generally high in the Economy cabin, though the increase in demand to Southeast Asia fell short of capacity growth due to issues in a number of countries in that region.
