Braathens Aviation carriers Malmö Aviation and Sverigeflyg to merge

Malmö Aviation announced (18-Nov-2014) plans to merge with fellow Braathens Aviation carrier Sverigeflyg to develop a domestic Swedish airline based at Stockholm Bromma. The companies expect to complete the merger in autumn 2015, with the new organisation to be divided into eight regions. Malmö Aviation commercial director Susanne Dahlberg said: "This feels like a natural next step for us. We have separately within the group challenged the big players, but as we move together as one company, we are responsible for every three domestic trips. It gives us the opportunity to challenge further and create more attractive travel options for our travellers." Ms Dahlberg added: "We want to get even closer to our customers and have therefore chosen an organisational structure that allows us to work even closer to our customers, but at the same time take advantage of that we will get stronger by working together. Therefore, we will have common support functions and specialised functions that enable us to work smarter. Our common hub is Bromma airport. We believe that Sweden needs competition in domestic aviation and when we get together we will be a major player, who also will fight for Bromma's future." [more - original PR - Swedish]
