Berlin Schönefeld and Berlin Tegel pax growth continues to exceed national average

Germany's Berlin Schönefeld and Berlin Tegel airports handled (08-Apr-2014) a combined 2.1 million passengers, an increase of 2.8% year-on-year, in Mar-2014. Berlin Schönefeld handled 552,957 passengers, up 1.9%, and Berlin Tegel handled 1.6 million passengers, up 3.1%. Cargo volume increased 22.3% to 3500 tonnes and aircraft movements increased 6.9% to 20,381 during the month. Meanwhile, in 1Q2014, the airports handled 5.7 million passengers, up 5.9%, including 4.3 million at Berlin Tegel, +6.6%, and 1.5 million at Berlin Schönefeld, up 4.2%. Commenting on the results, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH CEO Hartmut Mehdorn said Passenger numbers at both Tegel and Schönefeld have continued to increase also during the first quarter of this year.
