Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Emirates pressure Airbus for compensation - report
Sydney (XFNews ASIA) - Qantas Airways Ltd, Singapore Airlines Ltd and Emirates are believed to be pressuring Airbus for more compensation over the late delivery of the A380 super jumbo, the Sydney Morning Herald reported citing an unnamed source.
An industry source told the newspaper that the three met in Singapore to discuss compensation a few days before Airbus announced the latest delays to the A380 delivery schedule last week.
It said Qantas spokesman Simon Rushton would not confirm whether the discussion took place but he said the airline had met Airbus representatives in Singapore last week.
The newspaper said a Singapore Airlines spokeswoman denied her airline has been a party to three-way discussions, and Emirates was not available for comment.
A week ago Airbus parent EADS said production problems for the A380 has forced it to delay deliveries by another year on average, the third setback for the program since June 2005.
