Etihad to launch six new destinations in 2009

Etihad Airways has confirmed plans to launch services to six new destinations in 2009 - Melbourne (Mar-09), Athens and Istanbul (Jun-09) Chicago (Sep-09), as well as Cyprus and one more destination in India, yet to be decided. The carrier will increase its fleet from 45 to 52 aircraft by the end of the year, having taken delivery of its sixth A340-600 on 20-Jan-09. The aircraft is financed through a 12-year, USD110 million aircraft lease with Al Hilal Bank.
