About

Thai Smile is the regional subsidiary of Thai Airways Group. Primarily based at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, with a secondary hub at Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport, the carrier launched services on 07-Jul-2012 with a fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft. Thai Smile uses a 'light premium' or hybrid business model, placing it between associate LCC, Nok Air and full service parent, Thai Airways.

On 17-May-2023, Thai Airways announced its creditors committee approved a plan to merge operations with Thai Smile as part of efforts to reduce losses. The merger will result in aircraft currently operated by Thai Smile coming under management of Thai Airways. The companies will manage operations, flight planning, scheduling and route network and fleet under a joint AOC. The merger is due to be completed by the end of 2023.

Thai Smile will cease operations from 31-Dec-2023 and Thai Airways will fully assume control of Thai Smile's assets and services from this date. The transition process is due to be completed by Jan-2024 and will include the integration of 20 Thai Smile A320s into Thai Airways' operations. Thai Airways will manage nine domestic routes previously operated by Thai Smile, which will continue under a TG flight code until the end of Mar-2024.
