Virgin Australia debuts new 'Economy Space+' product

Virgin Australia announced (30-Aug-2016) it new 'Economy Space+' product debuted on 30-Aug-2016. The service will be rolled out across the carrier's fleet, on all domestic and international services. 'Economy Space+' seating is located in the exit rows of the carrier's A330-200, Boeing 737-800s, Embraer 190, and Fokker 100 fleets, while it will be offered in the first row of seating on the carrier's ATR 72 aircraft. On the Boeing 777-300ER, 'Economy Space+' seating is located in the first section of the main cabin (five rows behind Premium Economy) as well as the exit rows. Economy Space+ prices begin at AUD10 (USD7.57) one way for domestic and short haul international flights, and AUD50 (USD37.85) one way for long haul international flights.

  • On domestic routes the 'Economy Space+' product includes priority boarding, increase in legroom of at least 25% and preferred overhead lockers;
  • On short haul international flights, passengers will be eligible for all the 'Economy Space+' services, as well as access to dedicated check-in facilities;
  • On Boeing 777-300ER flights from Australia to Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi, the 'Economy Space+' service includes:
    • Dedicated check-in;
    • Priority boarding;
    • 25% more legroom than the main Economy cabin;
    • Preferred overhead lockers;
    • Premium noise cancelling headset;
