US carriers collected USD960m from baggage fees in 3Q2014, Delta tops list
US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (US BTS) reported (15-Dec-2014) US passenger airlines collected a total of USD960 million in baggage fees, 2.1% of total operating revenue and USD759 million from reservation change fees, 1.7% of total operating revenue, in 3Q2014. The top airlines ranked by baggage fee revenue for 3Q2014 are as follows:
- Delta: USD237.0 million;
- United Airlines: USD180.7 million;
- American Airlines: USD154.9 million;
- US Airways: USD126.2 million;
- Spirit Airlines: USD62.6 million;
- Frontier: USD46.1 million;
- Alaska Air: USD37.5 million;
- Allegiant: USD31.9 million;
- JetBlue: USD22.9 million;
- Hawaiian Airlines: USD20.9 million;
