US Airways joins trans-Atlantic venture with BA, Iberia, AA, and Finnair

US Airways joined (03-Apr-2014) American Airlines transatlantic JV with British Airways, Iberia and Finnair as an affiliate member until it fully integrates operations with American. Bringing 28 trans-Atlantic routes, US Airways increases the joint venture's overall destinations to 29 in North America and 25 in Europe. US Airways also plans to implement codeshare agreements with the other carriers in the coming weeks, providing easy access to the combined global network. IAG CEO Willie Walsh noted the inclusion of US Airways into the "trans-Atlantic family" will expand the network and broaden the appeal of their services to new and existing customers, adding: "This expanded partnership complements the recent inclusion of Finnair into the joint business between British Airways and Japan Airlines."
