SpiceJet temporarily suspends operations on 17-Dec-2014 amid fuel-supply issues

SpiceJet COO via his official Twitter account stated (17-Dec-2014): "Flights scheduled to depart on or after 4pm today will operate. We apologise again for the disruptions." Services were earlier suspended for around 10 after oil marketing companies (OMCs) refused to supply jet fuel to the carrier on credit amid the issue of non-payment of dues despite a request from India's Civil Aviation Ministry to extend 15-day credit to the carrier. The carrier earlier tweeted (17-Dec-2014): "Spicejet apologises for disruption and pain caused to passengers due to stoppage of fuelling for our flights by the oil companies. We are working to resolve the issue." The carrier's main supplier is Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd with the carrier also supplied by Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) and Reliance Industries. Over 150 services of the airline, which has 243 scheduled services for the day, were cancelled.
