Mexico outlines airport investment allocations as part of National Infrastructure Plan

Mexico's President Enrique Pena Nieto announced (May-2014), via the Presidency's website, details of the country's National Infrastructure Plan 2014-2018 which includes investment in a number of airports across the country. The plan includes the following investment allocations:

  • Chetumal: MXN203.8 million (USD15.8 million) for airport modernisation;
  • Chihuahua: MXN50 million (USD3.8 million) for airport expansion;
  • Culiacan: MXN14 million (USD1 million) for airport expansion;
  • Guanajuato: MXN56 million (USD4.3 million) for airport modernisation;
  • Hermosillo: MXN19 million (USD1.4 million) for airport expansion;
  • Jalapa: MXN100 million (USD7.7 million) for airport modernisation;
  • Lazaro Cardenas: MXN1 billion (USD77.5 million) for unspecified project;
  • Los Cabos: MXN3 million (USD232,644) for airport modernisation;
  • Mazatlan: MXN4 million (USD308,602) for airport modernisation;
  • Merida: MXN1 millon (USD77,150) for airport modernisation;
  • Monterrey: MXN197 million (USD15.1 million) for airport expansion;
  • Nuevo Laredo: MXN185 million (USD14.2 million) to complete and bring online new cargo terminal;
  • Puerto Vallarta: MXN68 million (USD5.2 million) for airport expansion;
  • San Luis Potosi: MXN3 million (USD231,451) for airport modernisation;
  • Tijuana: MXN75 million (USD5.7 million) for airport expansion;

The plan also allocates MXN185.7 million (USD14.3 million) for an "airport in the Istmo region". No further details on the projects or timeframes were revealed.
