Malaysia Airports Holdings pax up 13%, cargo down 3% in Aug-2012

Malaysia Airports Holdings passenger numbers up 13% - traffic highlights for Aug-2012:

• Passenger numbers: 5.7 million, +13.1% year-on-year;
• Cargo volume: 72,066 tonnes, -3.0%;
• Aircraft movements: 54,907, +4.6%.

The airport operator reported (02-Oct-2012) most of the airports operated by the group registered double-digit growth with international passengers increasing by 9.6% while domestic passengers rose by 16.7%. The domestic airlines achieved good domestic growth due to the higher festive and school holidays travel demand and lower base in 2011. The higher international sector contribution came from AirAsia Group, Firefly and collectively other foreign airlines all of which individually recorded good double-digit year-on-year growth for Aug-2012.
