Malaysia Airlines seeing strong growth in online travel agents

Malaysia Airlines senior VP global sales and distribution Duncan Bureau, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, stated (08-Aug-2013) the carrier is seeing 68% year-on-year growth in online travel agent (OTA), adding that the carrier is seeing "fantastic growth in some markets". On the value of OTAs, he explained: "We need their marketing dollars" especially in other destinations such as the UK and US. He also noted that sales growth from OTAs is "faster than direct distribution".
