Lufthansa posts 1Q2011 loss; EUR40m impact from earthquake and MENA unrest

Lufthansa stated its first quarter loss was influenced by reduced passenger demand following the earthquake in Japan and unrest in North Africa (Reuters, 04-May-2011). The carrier stated these events would weigh on its outlook and had affected results by EUR40 million in 1Q2011. The carrier reported a narrowed first quarter operating loss of EUR227 million (from EUR330 million in 1Q2010).
