Lufthansa Group reports positive development in all operating business segments in 1Q2015

Lufthansa Group revenue up 8% - financial highlights for three months ended 31-Mar-2015:

  • Total revenue: EUR6973 million, +7.9% year-on-year;
    • Passenger Airline Group: EUR5157 million, +5.2%;
    • Logistics: EUR614 million, +5.3%;
    • MRO: EUR1249 million, +18.6%;
    • Catering: EUR672 million, +15.7%;
  • Total operating costs: EUR8019 million, +11.5%;
    • Labour: EUR1922 million, +6.9%;
    • Fuel: EUR1308 million, -13.8%;
  • EBIT (loss): (EUR144 million), compared to a loss of EUR217 million in p-c-p;
    • Passenger Airline Group: (EUR253 million), compared to a loss of EUR311 million in p-c-p;
      • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines: (EUR233 million), compared to a loss of EUR245 million in p-c-p;
      • SWISS: EUR51 million, +1600%;
      • Austrian Airlines: (EUR53 million), compared to a loss of EUR54 million in p-c-p;
    • Logistics: EUR52 million, +108%;
    • MRO: EUR106 million, stable;
    • Catering: (EUR1 million), compared to a loss of EUR6 million in p-c-p;
  • Passenger numbers: 21.6 million, -0.8%;
  • Passenger load factor: 75.8%, +0.3 ppt;
  • Cargo volume: 451,000 tonnes, -2.4%;
  • Cargo load factor: 69.2%, -2.5 ppts;
  • Total assets: EUR34,165 million;
  • Cash and cash equivalents: EUR917 million;

Lufthansa Group: "For the full year, Lufthansa Passenger Airlines still expects earnings to go up significantly. The strikes to date and the tragic loss of Germanwings flight 4U 9525 certainly have negative effect on advance bookings, but do not alter this qualitative forecast," Source: Company statement, 04-May-2015.
