Lufthansa Group pax up 3.8% in Apr-2012, cargo down. Enacting yield-focused capacity management

Lufthansa Group reports (10-May-2012) the following traffic/financial highlights in Apr-2012:

• Passenger numbers: 8.7 million, +3.8% year-on-year;
  • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines*: 6.3 million, +2.5%;
  • SWISS**: 1.4 million, +6.0%;
  • Austrian Airlines: 985,000, +9.9%;
• Passenger load factor: 78.5%, +1.8 ppts;
• Lufthansa Passenger Airlines: 77.6%, +1.3 ppts;
  • SWISS: 83.6%, +2.0 ppts;
  • Austrian Airlines: 76.7%, +5.9 ppts;
• Cargo volume: 164,000 tonnes, -8.8%;

Lufthansa Group: "The Passenger Airline Group continued its yield focused capacity management in April, adding just 1.5% to capacity while the number of flights remained stable (-0.2%).
