Lufthansa Group pax numbers up 2% in Sep-2012, load factor up

Lufthansa Group reports (10-Oct-2012) the following traffic highlights in Sep-2012:

• Passenger numbers: 9.6 million, +1.6% year-on-year;
  • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines*: 6.9 million, +1.8%;
  • SWISS**: 1.5 million, +4.3%;
  • Austrian Airlines: 1.1 million, -2.8%;
• Passenger load factor: 81.6%, +1.2 ppts;
  • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines: 80.5%, +0.4 ppt;
  • SWISS: 86.1%, +2.4 ppts;

Lufthansa: "In September the Passenger Airline Group was able to match the positive trend of prior months, increasing sales by 1.7% year on year. As capacity growth was closely restricted (+0.2%) the passenger load factor rose by 1.2 ppts to 81.6%. The pricing environment showed a slight improvement. In European traffic the passenger load factor went up by 1.9 ppts to 77.5%, while sales rose by 4.4%.
