LOT Polish Airlines to temporarily suspend six routes due to restructuring plan

LOT Polish Airlines announced (29-Jun-2015) plans to temporarily suspend the following services in 2H2015, as a result of "compensatory measures" required under the carrier's European Commission-approved restructuring plan - see Route Changes Table for more information:

  • Krakow-Gdansk: Daily service to be suspended on 01-Jul-2015. Ryanair also operates on the route;
  • Warsaw-Belgrade: Daily service to be suspended on 01-Jul-2015. Air Serbia also operates on the route;
  • Warsaw-Chisinau: Four times weekly service to be suspended on 01-Jul-2015. The carrier is the route's only operator;
  • Warsaw-Düsseldorf: 12 times weekly service to be suspended on 31-Aug-2015. Germanwings also operates on the route;
  • Warsaw-Yerevan: Four times weekly service to be suspended on 01-Jul-2015. The carrier is the route's only operator;
  • Warsaw-Zagreb: Daily service to be suspended on 01-Jul-2015. The carrier is the route's only operator.

LOT Polish Airlines stated: "The obligation to implement compensatory measures applies to any airline from the European Union who has ever received public assistance. The carrier for the duration of the restructuring must temporarily resign from profitable parts of connections and thus give back part of the market."
