Japan and Russia expand air services agreement
Japan and Russian expanded (01-Dec-2011) their air services agreement to increase the number of flights between the countries from 140 to 184 per week, effective from the 2012 northern summer. Under the agreement, restrictions on the number of codeshare flights have been lifted. Japan and Russia have also agreed to lift restrictions on the type of aircraft operating between the countries, allowing airlines to operate the A380 aircraft between Japan and Russia. Flights operated by Japanese and Russian carriers during 2011 winter schedules are as follows:
- Japanese carriers: Three passenger services per week;
- Japan Airlines: Three times weekly Tokyo Narita-Moscow service;
- Russian carriers: 17 flights per week including nine passenger and eight cargo;
- Aeroflot:
- Paris-Moscow-Tokyo Narita: Four times weekly passenger service;
- London-Moscow-Tokyo Narita: Twice weekly passenger service;
- Rome-Moscow-Tokyo Narita: Weekly passenger service;
- Moscow-Novosibirsk-Tokyo Narita: Weekly cargo service;
- Moscow-Novosibirsk-Tokyo Narita-Seoul Incheon-Moscow: Three times weekly cargo service;
- Novosibirsk-Tokyo Narita: Weekly cargo service;
- SAT Airlines:
- Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk-Sapporo Chitose: Twice weekly passenger service;
- Aeroflot:
