Germanwings to raise fares

Germanwings announced plans to raise its fares as a result of increasing fuel costs, with the carrier increasing its cheapest fares by EUR10 to EUR29.99 with an increase of between GBP5 and GBP6 on services from the UK (ABTN, 06-Apr-2011). The increase includes a new air travel tax levied on German carriers since the start of the year. Germanwings stated it "does not expect" the price of fuel to fall significantly within the near future.
