GE Aviation sees extraordinary growth opportunities in China

GE Aviation Systems CEO, Lorraine Bolsinger, stated Commercial Aircraft Corp of China's (Comac) C919 and the Chinese market in general "represent extraordinary growth opportunities" for the company (Bloomberg, 01-Feb-2010). In Dec-2009, CFM International, a JV between GE and Safran, won a contract to power the C919 with its LEAP-X1C engine. Nexcelle, a JV between Safran's Aircelle and GE's Middle River Aircraft Systems, was also awarded a contract to develop engine nacelles and thrust reversers for the aircraft.
