US FAA confirms IASA Category 1 rating for Indonesia

US FAA announced (15-Aug-2016) Indonesia complies with ICAO safety standards and was granted an International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) Category 1 rating. Indonesian carriers may now establish US services and carry the codes of US carriers, subject to FAA and US Department of Transportation approval. The Category 1 rating is based on an assessment of safety oversight provided by Indonesia's Directorate General of Civil Aviation conducted in Mar-2016. The FAA lowered Indonesia's rating from Category 1 to Category 2 in Apr-2007. [more - original PR]
