Dubai International Airport retains top position as busiest international airport in 2015, 78m pax

Dubai International Airport stated (01-Feb-2016) it has retained its position as the busiest hub for international passengers in 2015, with annual passengers of more than 78 million, an increase of 10.7% year-on-year. Cargo volume increased 3.4% to 2.5 million tonnes and aircraft movements increased 14.1% to 403,517. India retained its position as Dubai's single largest destination country with 10.4 million passengers, a growth of 17%. The UK ranked second with 5.7 million passengers, up 6%, followed by Saudi Arabia with 5.5 million passengers, up 12%. The busiest destination is Doha with 2.8 million passengers, up 18%, followed by London with 2.7 million passengers, up 1%, and Mumbai with 2.2 million passengers, up 14%. In Dec-2015, the airport handled 8.5% more passengers at 7.1 million, 5% more cargo at 218,408 tonnes, and 35,575 movements, up 5.9%. [more - original PR]
