Vietnam Airlines applies to operate US services, may commence HCMC-Los Angeles service in Oct-2018

Vietnam Airlines applied (09-Nov-2016) to the US Department of Transportation for an exemption and foreign air carrier permit to operate scheduled services from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), via Nagoya, Osaka and Taipei, to Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Seattle and beyond to Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. The carrier proposed a tentative schedule for daily nonstop Ho Chi Minh City-Los Angeles service, to commence with A350-900 equipment on or about 30-Oct-2018. The airline also applied to operate from points behind Vietnam to 25 US points and beyond on a codeshare basis and operate charter services between Vietnam and the US and between the US and third countries.
