Brazil ABEAR reports lower market concentration in Feb-2013; reports ASKs, RPKs and market shares
Brazilian Association of Airlines (ABEAR) reported (21-Mar-2013) lower levels of market concentration in Feb-2013 based on its five member carrier's ASKs and RPKs, with Avianca Brazil, Azul and TRIP gaining ground while TAM Airlines and Gol receded. ABEAR said the joint RPKs of Avianca Brazil, Azul and TRIP in Feb-2013 rose 3% year-on-year from Feb-2012, from 20.8% to 23.8%. ABEAR technical advisor Adalberto Febeliano said, "This confirms the trend of lower market concentration and advancement of regional transport." ABEAR reported the following ASKs, RPKs and market shares for Feb-2013:
- ASKs: -5.3% overall in Feb-2013 compared to Feb-2012:
- Avianca Brazil: +25.2%;
- Azul: +9.39%;
- TRIP: +2%;
- Gol: -5.9%;
- TAM: -11.9%;
- RPKs: +3% overall in Feb-2013 compared to Feb-2012:
- Avianca Brazil: +33%;
- TRIP: +18.8%;
- Azul: +10.6%;
- TAM: +2.5%;
- Gol: -4.8%;
- Market shares in Feb-2013 :
- TAM: 34.6%;
- Gol: 32.6%;
- Azul:, 16.3%;
- TRIP: 8.4%;
- Avianca Brazil: 8.2%.
