American Airlines, US Airways merger leaves a 'highly competitive market' in US: CEO

American Airlines CEO Doug Parker stated (03-Jun-2015) the merger between American and US Airways has left a "highly competitive market" in the US. Mr Parker noted the "extremely competitive business" makes it "much better" for consumers because it is a "network business and a large network is what customers want." He added, "They don't want to split their frequent-flyer miles across a couple of airlines if they don't have to. So they get that convenience but they also have the ability to fly on LCCs in certain markets. What we have is a different mix but an intensely competitive mix." [more - original PR]
