AirAsia India announces delivery of fourth aircraft, tribute to JRD Tata

AirAsia India CEO Mittu Chandilya, via his official Twitter account, announced (20-Mar-2015) the delivery of the carrier's fourth aircraft, VT-JRT. The carrier has a livery tribute to JRD Tata, the Tata Group patriarch and the founder of India's first airline. The aircraft was revealed by GMR's aircraft MRO unit at the Hyderabad Airport. Named 'The Pioneer', the aircraft is painted with an image of the JRD Tata standing beside the Puss Moth, the aircraft on which he operated India's first commercial flight on 15-Oct-1932. Tata Group chairman emeritus Ratan Tata said: "JRD Tata was a visionary. He established civil aviation in India because he believed that the country and its people must benefit from what the rest of the world did. I am happy that AirAsia is paying a tribute to him".
