Changi Airports: five additional carriers plan to operate at new T4

Changi Airport Group (CAG) announced (09-Jul-2015) AirAsia Berhad, Indonesia AirAsia, Thai AirAsia, Korean Air and Vietnam Airlines will operate at Singapore Changi Airport's new terminal four, scheduled to launch in 2017. The five carriers will join Cathay Pacific, which has agreed to relocate its services to the new terminal. In total, the six airlines will operate approximately 800 flights per week at the new T4, designed to accommodate 16 million passengers p/a. Changi Airports stated it "forecasts between 8 and 10 million passenger movements in the initial period of operations." The new terminal will feature CAG's fast and seamless travel (FAST) programme, offering a complete suite of self-service baggage handing options as well as facial recognition technology to expedite immigration clearance and processing measures. According to Changi Airports, the terminal development is more than 70% complete. Following the completion of construction works on the super structure, CAG will commence installation and testing of the self-service equipment and bag-drop facilities. The development of the retail precinct will also commence, offering approximately 17,000sqm of retailing and dining space and more than 80 outlets. [more - original PR]
