Air New Zealand pax up 1.7%, yield remains depressed in Jan-2010

Air New Zealand passenger numbers up 1.7% - traffic highlights in Jan-2010:

  • Passenger numbers: 939,000, +1.7% year-on-year;
    • Short-haul: 792,000, +3.9%;
      • Domestic: 570,000, +9.4%;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 223,000, -7.9%;
    • Long-haul: 147,000, -8.7%;
  • Passenger load factor: 86.0%, +2.6 ppts;
    • Short-haul: 82.6%, +4.8 ppts;
      • Domestic: 82.2%, +7.9 ppts;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 82.8%, +3.5 ppts;
    • Long-haul: 88.2%, +1.3 ppt;
  • Seven months ended 31-Jan-2010:
    • Yield: -9.8%;
      • Short-haul: -8.8%;

Air New Zealand: "Group-wide yields for the financial year to date were down 9.8% on the same period last year. Year to date Short Haul yields were down 8.8% and the respective Long Haul yields were down by 13.0%. Removing the impact of foreign exchange, Group-wide yields were down 10.2%," Company statement.
