Air New Zealand pax down 1% in Jan-2012, load factor weaker, yields improve in year-to-date

Air New Zealand reports (22-Feb-2012) the following traffic highlights in Jan-2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 980,000, -1.0% year-on-year;
    • Short-haul: 831,000 million, -0.4%;
      • Domestic: 583,000, 0.0%;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 248,000, -1.4%;
    • Long-haul: 149,000, -4.3%;
  • Passenger load factor: 86.3%, -1.1 ppts;
    • Short-haul: 85.9%, +1.8 ppts;
      • Domestic: 83.8%, +1.9 ppts;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 86.9%, +1.8 ppts;
    • Long-haul: 86.5%, -3.1 ppts;

Air New Zealand: "Group-wide yields for the financial year to date were up 4.1% on the same period last year. Compared to last January year to date Short Haul yields were up 1.7%. Long Haul yields were up by 4.3%. Removing the impact of foreign exchange, Group-wide yields were up 5.8%." Source: Company statement, 22-Feb-2012.
