Air New Zealand passenger numbers down 2.6%, yield also down in Dec-2009

Air New Zealand passenger numbers down 2.6% - traffic highlights in Dec-2009:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.2 million, -2.6% year-on-year;
    • Short-haul: 1.0 million, -2.0%;
      • Domestic: 758,000, -0.7%;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 270,000, -5.6%;
    • Long-haul: 175,000, -6.4%;
  • Passenger load factor: 85.0%, +4.8 ppts;
    • Short-haul: 80.8%, +6.0 ppts;
      • Domestic: 79.3%, +5.0 ppts;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 81.6%, +6.6 ppts;
    • Long-haul: 88.0%, +4.0 ppts;
  • Six month ended 31-Dec-2009:

Air New Zealand: "Group-wide yields for the financial year to date were down 9.7% on the same period last year. Year to date Short Haul yields were down 9.2% and the respective Long Haul yields were down by 12.5%. Removing the impact of foreign exchange, Group-wide yields were down 10.8%," Company statement.
